Instead of using the same lineup they employed against Flaherty in Game 1, the Yankees will go with their Game 4 lineup, which produced 11 runs and featured Jazz Chisholm Jr. at cleanup, one spot ahead of Giancarlo Stanton.
Volpe’s go-ahead grand slam off Dodgers reliever Daniel Hudson in the third inning of Game 4 on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium was precisely the spark his Yanks needed to pull themselves off the mat in this matchup. It sparked a runaway 11-4 victory for the New Yorkers, who, while still trailing three games to one, have ace Gerrit Cole going at home in Game 5 on Wednesday and therefore still have a chance to make this a legit series.

The Yankees used their top bullpen arms on Tuesday to hold on to their lead, and while they’ll be available if needed on Wednesday – this is an elimination game – it’s asking a lot to expect them to shut down the Dodgers again. After Freeman homered in the first, it did seem like the Yankees might just roll over and get swept. Instead, they ended up, as the night went on, slowly working themselves back into shape. This Yankees team already looks different than it did on Monday night. Can they do it one more time and send everybody west for the weekend?
